Project overview

London

Completed in 2021, the house maximises a secluded back-land Conservation Area site in a lightly wooded hillside.

A discreet single storey entrance belies a more cavernous double height interior which takes advantage of the sloping hillside to provide generous living accommodation which spans the full width of the south elevation.

The house is designed such that the first floor acts as a bridging structure over the garden level living spaces to enable the 20 metre glazed facade to slide fully open with no intervening structure and provide a seamless transition to the external landscape. First floor bedrooms ‘float’ above the living areas in a series of dark ribbed volumes. A central courtyard with ancient olive tree allows light deep into the plan at the rear, and provides the backdrop to a private spa pool, whilst a red feature spiral stair forms a dramatic focal point at the heart of the building.
